Only a handful of my mom's classmates are on Facebook but I am fortunate and the first person who writes to me, John A., knows the coordinator of their 50th reunion. He encourages me in my quest and shares with me that the few memories he has of my mom suggest that she was a wonderful person. Just hearing this hint of remembrance brings me hope that this line of inquiry will finally bring my mother more to life.
He passes along John R.'s email, and I write immediately. John R. replies within the hour and offers to send an email missive to the 109 classmates who are on-line. He suggests that while he did not know my mother well, that hopefully some of her classmates will. John R. prefaces my Facebook message with a plea of his own: If you have ANY information that will help her know a little more about her MOM, please contact Michelle. As Michelle said, no story is too small.
I feel like a sleuth and love it.
